Afscheid voorzitter

Helaas moest het bestuur in oktober 2010 afscheid nemen van de voorzitter. Haar overlijden kwam vooral bij onze medewerkers in Gambia als een donderslag bij heldere hemel. Onze voorzitter had er toentertijd voor gekozen om de medewerkers niet over haar ongeneeslijke ziekte te informeren.  Door middel van onderstaand bericht heeft onze secretaris na haar overlijden alsnog hen geïnformeerd.

Dear Mr. Kambi and Staff members of the HFAE the Gambia,

Saturday we were on the funeral of our president lady, Yvon Springer. She left us too early. We knew already for many months that Yvon was very sick and that she was going to leave us. It was not easy to live with this information. Yvon also asked us not to inform the staff in the Gambia. She had still hope that her was given more time. However, the cancer in her body grew faster as foreseen. She prepared a farewell letter for you all, but postponed it always hoping that she, thanks to the medical treatments, would recover somewhat and could return to the Gambia.

It was impossible. About one week before she died her condition was suddenly so bad that she could no longer stay at home. Every following day her condition was worse. One week later she died.

We thank God that he send this “Action Lady” to us. She did very good work for the Foundation and special for the Gambia. We cannot and will never forget her.

Mr. Kambi your condolence arrived at time. Everybody was emotionally touched by your words. The sister of Yvon printed your condolence and put it in Yvon’s coffin. Your words will forever be with Yvon.

The board members of the FAEG promised Yvon not to give up and to take care of the foundation. We realize that we cannot replace her but we will in cooperation with you and the staff in the Gambia do our best to continue all the activities. Soon we will send our ideas to the Gambia.
